About Us

We came to the Highlands in 2004 for the first time and fell in love with the landscape and wildlife straight away.  After returning each and every year for over 12 years we decided to make the move and make it our home.  Woodburn Lodge has some of the most amazing views.

There are the views to the “Kyle” and the hills beyond with a mixture of trees which are truly breath taking.  We often see deer in the land below us and numerous birds of prey.  We have a regular visit from a Sparrow Hawk who’s favourite spot appears to be the top of the bird table.  We have numerous visits from the “regulars” at our bird feeders including Woodpeckers, Siskins, Chaffinches and Goldfinches varieties to numerous to mention.

A special favourite is a flock of Waxwing that arrive in late October in a large flock and proceed to strip our Rowan Tree of it’s berries!  This takes around a fortnight of daily visits of around 20 to 30 birds until the berries are no more.  We also see Pine Martens who also love to try and eat the suet balls from the feeders.
